A Year in Review of the Sport Sector
Change happens by design or by disaster. The sport sector has been left for so long that it’s become disastrous making it imperative that change happen.
In his TEDx Talk last year, Give Sport Back To The Kids, Matt Young, Director of Sport at FSQ, shared what needs to happen to give sports back to the kids including:
- Let Kids be Kids
- If you see something, say something
- Restructure the industry
Matt shares what has been happening in youth and amateur sport since then including the challenges in the systems and the push for change coming from the athletes.
In this year in review, Matt addresses many questions we’ve all been asking including:
- What is the talent gap in sports allowing some to have access over others?
- Why have we reached these issues in youth and amateur sport?
- What does this mean from a sport governance perspective?
- What are the conflicts of interest in sport?
- Who is responsible for the change that needs to happen in sport?
- What is the hold-up for changes being implemented?
- What are the specific roles and hierarchy in sport?
